After just three seasons, Amon-Ra St. Brown has transformed from a promising fourth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft to one of the league's most respected receivers.
In his initial three seasons, St. Brown, a USC graduate, has delivered over 90 catches, 912 receiving yards, and five touchdown receptions per season. In his most recent two seasons, he has particularly excelled, producing over 100 catches, 1,160 receiving yards, and at least six touchdown receptions in each campaign.
St. Brown's most recent season was a career-defining. He established personal records in receptions (119), receiving yards (1,515), and touchdown catches (10). For his performance, he was awarded All-Pro honors and received the third-highest receiving grade from Pro Football Focus (91.3).
In recognition of his remarkable career start, St. Brown signed a four-year, $120 million extension in April, which includes $77 million in guaranteed money. As the 2024 NFL campaign approaches, St. Brown has been identified by NFL.com's Bucky Brooks as one of the five 'biggest threats' to break the single-season receiving record held by Lions legend Calvin Johnson. St. Brown came in at No. 2 on Brooks’ list.
Brooks believes that St. Brown’s exceptional route-running abilities and steady hands make him a reliable find for Jared Goff in crucial situations. "The crafty playmaker consistently triumphs on option routes and crossers, which allows him to use his creativity as a route-running specialist," Brooks said. Brooks expects the numbers for the fourth-year pro to continue to grow as he pursues the records held by one of the Lions’ all-time greats.
